Sign language interpreters skilled in the ability to translate the meaning of spoken words into sign language. There are various forms of sign language.
In the United States we use American Sign Language. Other countries have different sign languages. There is no one universal sign language.
There are variables in sign language just as there are variables in language from different regions. The signs can vary based upon different locations.
ASL is the abbreviation used for American Sign Language. It has been accepted as a complete language. Just as it takes practice to learn a foreign language, sign language requires education and practice as well. In the United States, ASL is an integral part of deaf culture.
