Television Aids

Today all new televisions are required to have a closed-captioned feature. Like foreign films, the dialogue is written as it is spoken. This allows you to read what the speakers are saying. You can also follow the dialogue. By watching, reading, and listening, you will begin to comprehend more over time.

Other listening devices
are called "Direct Ear" or TV Ears.
These devices use wireless audio technology and invisible infrared light waves to carry the sound directly to a set of earphones that you wear. You can use these earphones with or without your hearing aids. The listener can adjust the volume by a separate volume control under the chin, and others can watch the program at a comfortable level for them. The headset can also be used in theaters that are equipped with infrared light. You need to inquire when attending a performance what type of equipment is available for people with hearing loss.
